A Conversation Consisting Entirely of Bread Puns

23 Aug 2026

It was 2:48 after the noon sun.
A friend posted a meme in the chat.
It was a meme, but not a funny one.
It was rather random, and fell flat. So I faced up and took it head on
with my own response, an innocent pun:

"I wasn't bready for that joke."

He must've thought he could top,
for he then proceeded to join in the fun.

Him: "That joke was the yeast of your concerns."

Me: "We better leaven this alone."

Him: "C'mon man you can dough better than that."

Me: "That joke isn't even half baked... Dang that's the second time I said 'joke'. Bear with me I'm a little crusty."

Him: "You knead to stop with these puns."

Me: "No, I think flour exchange is going quite well. We're on a roll."

Him: "I can't even anymore, what do I even rye."

Me: "Because you're baste. Life is boring wheatout a good challenge."

Him: "Naan bro, I disa-grain with that."

Me: "I loaf these puns. It slice to exercise the ol' wit."

Him: "Idk man, these puns are getting pretty stale."

Me: "Might be time to bag uette? It's croissont into bedtime." (It was past 10 o'clock)

Him: "I don't even know what that means, my patience with this is toast."

Me: "Baguette = Bag it... It was a bit sour dough."

Him: "Man this is getting un-bun-lievable. I pita the others in the chat."

Me: "The puns are getting a bit seedy."

Him: "That was bagel-y funny."

And so ended our great bread run.
